In It Together: Global Care and MMM
Russel Wright – Global Care Pastor
MMM Australia has made the Whittlesea property and accommodation available to Global Care, until December 2009, to assist in bushfire relief activities. This offer has been an answer to prayer and we are extremely grateful. The residence at MMM gives our full time volunteers the opportunity to reside on the property allowing us to debrief on a daily basis, work as a team and support one another in fellowship as we are away from our families. It also gives Global Care a central and secure place to house some of the equipment.
Every day, men, women, and children are hurting. For some, it’s the trauma of a natural disaster and the pain-staking journey to rebuild shattered lives. For others, it’s a financial crisis, loneliness, infirmity, homelessness or the burden of coping with life’s challenges without a support network.
Global Care exists to meet people and communities at their point of need. Established as a non-profit organisation in 1996 under the auspices of the Christian Outreach centre, Global Care provides a broad range of effective relief and outreach services.
Typically, Global Care is a supplier of second stage relief, providing leadership, guidance and essential services focused on long-term solutions. Our volunteers remain on the ground for as long as they’re needed. They provide comfort, practical and emotional support and a vigilant watch over the changing needs of a community in pain and transition. The emergency response team includes trades people, qualified counsellors, legal and financial professionals, youth workers and specialists in a range of fields.
The MMM property at Whittlesea helps us to achieve a more stream-lined approach to our support of the bushfire recovery efforts. It also ensures we can keep a watchful eye on our team and their wellbeing. To date, we have had nearly 400 volunteers help in the Kinglake Ranges. Every volunteer who has helped in some capacity feels the positive impact they have had whilst serving this great community.
It is vital that mission organisations band together sharing their strengths. If we all do our bit, it can make a big difference and glorify God. We are praying that the opportunity MMM has provided will be fruitful and that both organisations can continue supporting the Black Saturday bushfire survivors. We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you MMM for your support.
Here's your chance to do something practical for others in your community...while you raise funds to help MMM change lives in communities in Australia.
